The BMW iX1 is coming to South Africa soon. It is part of BMW Group’s broad plans of providing electric vehicles for all its segments. The recently revealed all electric vehicle is set to replace the i3 hatch back as the more affordable practical and entry-level electric city car. In essence, the BMW xDrive30 is the first all-wheel drive electric car revealed by BMW focusing on the premium entry-level segment.
What We Know
The BMW iX1 xDrive30 will come with two drive units. One located at the front and the other at the rear axles of the car. They are capable of delivering a combined output of up to 230 KW. The all-wheel electric drive system promises ultimate traction and stability in all situations. The Zero to 100 km/h dash is expected to be 5.7 seconds.
According to BMW, The model will come with improved charging software that can be found in the new BMW i7. Its battery pack will have the capacity to give the vehicle a range of between 413 – 438 km. Bear in mind that these are not the final figures as BMW has stated they are based on the car’s current development. However, should they even be close to what the brand predicts, it would come in handy for all your day-to-day runs considering the increased fuel prices here in South Africa.
