25 February 2023, Montana Gardens – BMW Montana [operated by Legacy Motor Group (LMG)] recently collaborated with the Soshanguve Cycling Club (SCC) for their Annual Charity Ride. The partnership saw the Charity Ride powered by the new BMW X1 and BMW X5 as support vehicles on Saturday, 25 February when the SCC embarked on their fifth edition of a one-day 300km cycling tour from Tshwane (Pretoria) to Polokwane.

The tour started at 5 am from Wonderpark Shopping Centre with 100 riders riding through Hammanskraal, Bela-Bela, Modimolle, Mookgopong, Mokopane and Polokwane (including Seshego). All proceeds raised by the Club during this tour were donated to Luthuli Combined School at Luthuli Park in Polokwane.

“As an organisation, we are inspired by the Sesotho proverb that says ‘Motho ke Motho Ka Batho’ meaning we are who we are because of people. In this case our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate. Therefore it made sense for us to support this worthy cause and demonstrate our commitment to empowering surrounding communities as well as strengthening customer relations. What also easily encouraged us to get involved is the fact that sport (such as cycling) is also synonymous with one of the brands we represent (BMW). We look forward to working with the Club in their upcoming tours where our other dealerships are located,” said Edward Makwana, General Manager of Public Relations, Marketing and Customer Experience at LMG.

The SCC is a non-profit organisation that aims to create partnerships within communities that bring together impoverished homes, child-headed families, orphanages, and schools to provide decent basic necessities. Through their cycling Charity Rides and Tours, the Club has managed to raise money, school shoes, blankets and non-perishable food which are donated to various beneficiaries.
