Montana, Pretoria / City of Tshwane – As part of its commitment to transform the automotive retail industry and empower communities in its areas of operation, Legacy Motor Group (LMG) today welcomed a total of 16 youths to participate in its inaugural Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.
The YES initiative was first introduced by State President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018. It is a business-led collaboration driven by non-profit organisation YES4YOUTH (https://yes4youth.co.za) and seeks out groundbreaking ways to reignite the economy as well as give youth a dignified first chance of employment.
The programme offers youth a 12-month quality work experience and equips them with a toolkit to be a beacon of hope for their families, households, and communities.
“As one of the leading automotive retail companies in South Africa, we are committed to transforming our sector and organisation, and empowering the communities in the regions we operate. We are excited to welcome the sixteen youths to LMG and provide them with meaningful work experience within our various business divisions,” says Dr. Althea Foster, LMG’s Chief People Officer.
The sixteen apprentices participating in the LMG YES Initiative will be assigned to mentors within the various divisions of LMG such as Customer Experience, IT Operations, Sales, Aftersales, Approved Repair Centre, Human Resources (HR) and Finance.
The youths hail from Soshanguve, Mabopane, Hammanskraal, Moloto, and various parts of Johannesburg.
“We look forward to seeing a positive outcome from this initiative. All successful businesses like ours are successful because of people. Therefore, it is important to embrace initiatives such as these to help make a real and lasting difference in our communities and economy,” adds Foster.
