20 July 2023: In honour of Mandela month and to connect with customers, BMW Joburg City decided to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s legacy in style by hosting an exclusive Soulful Sunday Jazz and Dining Experience on Sunday, 9 July. Held at the Sanctuary Mandela Boutique Hotel, the perfect backdrop for an elegant tribute to Mandela’s extraordinary life, around 40 customers were offered the opportunity to experience BMW’s luxury vehicles while enjoying soulful music and exquisite dining.

The event kicked off with customers being chauffeured from their doorsteps in luxury BMWs, including the new BMW 7 Series, updated BMW X7 and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé. These vehicles were chosen to fit with the theme, as Mandela’s preferred vehicle of choice while in office was the BMW 7 Series. This was only the beginning of a sophisticated Sunday afternoon, as on arrival, guests were met with soothing jazz and a delectable dining experience with a menu that was carefully crafted to showcase the rich and diverse flavours of South African cuisine.

The event was meticulously planned to embody the true essence of BMW Joburg City and BMW’s luxury class vehicles – also known as the Grande Klasse (GKL). Known for their commitment to excellence, sophistication, and attention to detail, the team ensured that every customer experienced the pinnacle of luxury.

“For us, it’s about creating memorable experiences. It’s no good saying ‘Come have lunch with us’ and then you stare at a static car. You’ve got to experience it, because life is about experiences” says Edward Makwana, General Manager of Public Relations, Marketing and Customer Experience for Legacy Motor Group (LMG) – the 100% black-owned automotive retail group that proudly includes BMW Joburg City amongst its portfolio of dealerships.

By providing this platform to celebrate Madiba and what he stood for through an engaging experience, BMW Joburg City showed its commitment to providing customers with extraordinary moments and a deep sense of appreciation for South African culture and history.

As guests were chauffeured back to their doorsteps, each guest was left with a lasting memory inspired by Mandela’s legacy.
