In a powerful showcase of commitment to women empowerment, BMW Joburg City proudly took the driver’s seat as the vehicle partner at the second annual Basadi In Music Awards held at Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein earlier this month. This event, which coincides with Women’s Month in South Africa, specifically celebrates women in the music and entertainment industries, and their many achievements in these fields as voted for by the public.

The star-studded awards ceremony, held on Saturday, 19 August 2023, was a vibrant tapestry of talent, with singers, rappers, DJs, composers, producers, and creatives from across the music ecosystem. Hosted by popular media personality and singer Unathi Nkayi, the venue buzzed with the presence of many remarkable women who have carved their path in various aspects of the music and entertainment world. Among the many winners of awards this year were Afro Pop Artist of the Year Kelly Khumalo and Artist of the Year Lwah Ndlunkulu, while the renowned Letta Mbulu, PJ Powers, and Angelique Kidjo received prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Guests were further mesmerised by exciting live performances from beloved artists such as Andile Gaelesiwe, Winnie Khumalo, Khanyo, Maleh, Mpho Sebina, Tamara Dey, Vicky Sampson and Msaki.
